The foundation of Bridge was laid on 8th August 1995, when TC Boovendran, along with a small circle of friends thought of making a difference to the needy sections of society. The Bridge wanted to be the 'Link' between the generous people who want to contribute to a noble cause, and the struggling NGOs, who work hard every month to make their ends meet. Initially The Bridge was run by collecting funds from the immediate circle and routing it to the needy NGOs. That concept has withstood the test of time as our primary activity. |

| From there we moved further. Our motto was simple, to keep the stakeholders happy and be worthy of the trust showed in us. The trickle of funds from individuals are channelized, the end result is a chunk of money which can be distributed to the NGOs. The NGOs are monitored for their genuineness to ensure that the valuable money and time of the generous donors is spent for the right cause. Over the years, we have expanded our network, both in terms of members and in terms of the NGOs we support. We are a legal entity since Nov 2000 - A Public Charitable Trust, registered under the Indian Trusts Act. A board of 9 trustees manages this Trust. We have four teams of active people in Chennai, one team in Bangalore and those active outside Chennai & Bangalore forming offsite team. Our member base now touches 250 regular donors. We have 1000+ members who are interested in our activities. Any person who contributes money or time for The Bridge automatically becomes a member. |

We dream of facilitating the setup and development of self-sufficient "Bridge" units in key centers across India addressing the needs of local donors and customers. We will also work on leveraging network synergies towards fulfilling a cumulative target of Rupees 20 Lakhs per month by 2015. |

Members interact during the Bridge activities like NGO visits, meetings and functions and through the mailing circuit. The Bridge newsletter “The Bridge on The Web” – updates members with all the happenings in the Bridge family and also doubles as a forum for collecting valuable feedback from the members and NGOs. The founding philosophy is that small trickles of charity from otherwise disparate individuals can make a difference when they aggregate and are directed purposefully at the right cause. The Bridge therefore is not directly into service but is committed to support those who are into service. We bring the cause and the contributor (who feels answerable to a social conscience) together. The aim of "The Bridge" is to channelise any kind of help, be it money or effort, to the needy people of our society by acting as a bridge between the people who want to help and the people who need help. “The Bridge” is also committed to provide any other assistance that is in line with its core values. Our main criteria for identifying a cause to contribute to (i.e. Output) are: We strive to support NGOs serving various causes on a monthly basis. The focus groups we aim to support range from special children, mentally challenged women, men and children, Students, orphans, aged destitutes to the visually impaired, we also support different segments of NGOs. It is our endeavor to reach out to more such deserving NGOs.For a complete list of NGO supported please visit the Partner Section. We support life saving operations by donating money after validating the necessary parameters. The Bridge also conducts fun-filled events for the inmates of the NGO's from time to time. We organize visits to the NGOs along with our members, lending the personal touch. We believe that emotional support and care is what the NGOs long for.
